With over a decade of experience in childcare, youth leadership, and outdoor education, she’s passionate about creating spaces where children can thrive. Inspired by her own son’s need for connection, she turned her dream into reality—building The Village as a joyful, inclusive space where kids can simply be kids. Fueled by excitement and dedication, she’s growing this vibrant community, welcoming families to learn, explore, and build lasting friendships together!

Becoming part of The Village Co-Op team means joining a passionate group of educators, parents, and volunteers dedicated to creating an inclusive, hands-on learning community. As a team member, you’ll help shape enriching experiences, foster meaningful connections, and support a space where kids can learn, grow, and thrive together. Whether you’re leading activities, organizing events, or simply sharing your talents, your contributions make The Village a vibrant and welcoming place for all. Everything You Need to Know About Getting Involved!

Volunteers are the heart of The Village! Whether you want to greet new families, help in a class, step in as a substitute, or assist with teaching, we have a place for you. Below are answers to common questions about volunteering with us.

  • To volunteer, simply fill out the Volunteer Interest Form. Once submitted, our Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to discuss available opportunities, training, and next steps.

    • Welcome Crew – Be the friendly face that greets new families and helps them feel at home in The Village.

    • Class Helper – Assist with classroom setup, help kids with activities, and provide general support during classes.

    • Sub-In Volunteer – Step in when a class leader or helper is absent, ensuring smooth operations.

    • Assistant Teacher – Support lead teachers in running classes, engaging students, and preparing materials.

    Each role is flexible, and you can choose one or multiple roles that fit your schedule!

  • Nope! We welcome all skill levels and will provide training based on your role. If you love working with kids, supporting families, or just being part of a great community, we’d love to have you!

  • Volunteer shifts vary depending on the role:

    Welcome Crew: 30 minutes to 1 hour per shift
    Class Helper: 1-2 hours per session
    Sub-In Volunteer: As needed (you’ll be on a call list)
    Assistant Teacher: 1-3 hours per class

    You can commit to a single session, a full semester, or on an as-needed basis—whatever works for you!

  • Yes! Let us know if you have specific needs!

  • We provide:

    • A Volunteer Orientation to go over responsibilities and expectations.

    • Role-Specific Training to help you feel prepared.

    • A Mentor System, where experienced volunteers can help guide you.

    You won’t be thrown in without support!

  • Assistant Teachers help lead parent-taught classes and must:
    ✔ Attend a training session on classroom management & curriculum.
    ✔ Assist a lead teacher at least twice before taking on more responsibility.
    ✔ Commit to at least one 6-12 week session (flexible options available).

Our running classes & clubs

  • Garden Guru's | 12wk permaculture gardening class

    Where: Sergeant Jasper Park, Hardeeville SC

    When: Tues. 11am -12pm, March 4th - May 20th, 2025

    This 12-week program introduces young learners to gardening, ecology, and sustainable practices through hands-on activities, discussions, and creative projects. It promotes environmental stewardship by integrating permaculture principles and fostering curiosity about nature.

Tiny tricksters have been spotted in The Village, and they’ve left behind a trail of mischief and gold! Join us for a fun-filled Leprechaun Hunt, where kids will follow clues, solve riddles, and search for hidden treasures. Will you be lucky enough to find the leprechaun’s pot of gold? Come dressed in green and ready for adventure! 🌈💰
