What is The Village Co-Op?
The Village Co-Op is a secular, progressive homeschool community offering seasonal classes, clubs, and celebrations for children and families. We provide a supportive, inclusive space where kids learn through hands-on experiences — and parents find connection, friendship, and purpose alongside them.
What does “secular and progressive” mean?
We are inclusive of all backgrounds and beliefs, with no religious instruction or affiliation. “Progressive” means we value curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking — focusing on child-led learning, collaboration, and compassion in everything we do.
What do you mean by “seasons”?
Our year is divided into four learning seasons — Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.
Each season brings a fresh lineup of classes, clubs, and celebrations, so families can enjoy new experiences, topics, and community events throughout the year. You can join for one season or stay for all four — participation is flexible.
What kinds of classes do you offer?
Our classes are creative, hands-on, and designed to spark curiosity across a variety of subjects and ages — from science and art to storytelling, nature studies, and STEM. Each tribe’s classes are designed and orchestrated by its leading tribe members, who bring their own passions, skills, and experience to create meaningful, child-centered learning opportunities.
What are “clubs”?
Clubs are interest-based groups that let kids connect through shared hobbies and exploration — like art, gardening, gaming, or outdoor adventures. Just like classes, clubs are led by tribe leaders or experienced members within each tribe, allowing for flexibility and creativity that reflects each group’s unique dynamic.
What is a “tribe”?
Each family joins a tribe — a smaller, consistent learning group that meets weekly (sometimes multiple times per week). Tribes are organized by age and focus area, giving children a sense of belonging and community. Tribe leaders guide the rhythm of learning, host activities, and help coordinate seasonal classes and clubs for their members.
How often do tribes meet?
Most tribes meet once per week, while some meet multiple days depending on the season and program. This steady rhythm provides consistency for children and flexibility for families.
What ages can join?
The Village Co-Op welcomes children from toddler through teenage years (ages 0–18).
Our age groups are:
-
Wanderers (0-7 years)
-
Adventurers (7-14 years)
-
Trailblazers (14-18 years)
Each group’s learning is tailored to developmental stages and interests.
Do parents stay or drop off?
The Village Co-Op is a family-participation community, not a drop-off program. Parents and caregivers stay onsite, helping create a safe, connected, and collaborative atmosphere. Depending on your tribe, you may assist in classes, help with setup, or enjoy social time with other parents while your child learns.
How much does it cost to join?
The Village Co-Op is free and open to all families, though registration and waivers are required.
Those who wish to give back can join our optional monthly donor tiers, with 100% of contributions supporting materials, facilities, and community programs.
Some classes may include small, optional material fees listed before registration.
What happens during bad weather?
Because many of our activities are outdoors, we adapt when needed! We may move to a covered or indoor location, adjust the schedule, or reschedule if conditions are unsafe. All updates are shared promptly through our member communication channels.
What should we bring on tribe days?
Families are encouraged to bring water bottles, snacks or lunch, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing. Tribe leaders will send a seasonal checklist before each session begins.
How do I register or get started?
You can register online during our seasonal enrollment period or contact our team for guidance. Once you join, you’ll receive a Welcome Packet with your tribe’s schedule, supply list, and access to our member group.
What makes The Village Co-Op different?
We’re more than a co-op — we’re a living, learning community. Every class, club, and celebration is shaped by our members and guided by our shared values of inclusivity, creativity, and collaboration. Together, we’re raising lifelong learners — and building a Village that truly cares.
