How We Began

The Village Co-Op was born out of the gaps no one was filling.

When one family stepped away from the school system, they quickly discovered that homeschooling, though full of promise, often came with hidden barriers: steep costs, rigid beliefs, closed circles, and families left feeling alone. What began as a desperate search for support became a mission to build something different; a space where learning is inclusive, affordable, and deeply connected. The Village Co-Op grew from that vision: a community where every child belongs, every parent is supported, and every family can access the resources they need to thrive without judgment, limits, or prerequisites.

What We Have Become

The Village Co-Op began in September 2024 in a small park in the Lowcountry, SC, with just a handful of families gathering to learn, play, and support one another. From those humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a vibrant, thriving community.

Now, in our second year of operation, we are proud to host three active tribes, each offering classes, clubs, and events that spark curiosity and connection for children of all ages. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of parents, educators, and volunteers leads this mission forward, ensuring that every family who joins finds support, belonging, and a place to grow.

What started as a simple search for a village has become a true home for learning, friendship, and community; proof that when families come together, incredible things happen.
